Trip to Julian, California

My husband and I decided to ride to Julian (60 miles out of San Diego) for the weekend.  The ride down was awesome – very warm and beautifully clear.  Our day in Julian was great too.  We reserved a room at a bed and breakfast named The Julian Goldrush Hotel (the oldest, continuously running historic hotel in Southern California and located in the heart of downtown Julian).  It used to be the home of freed slaves, Albert & Margaret Tull.  Margaret served many miners during the California Gold Rush.  I think she served a complete chicken dinner for a quarter (that was expensive then)!  Anyway, a lot of heritage and a fun place to stay; owned and operated by some really nice people.  At night, they have Tea Time with scones and cookies.  In the morning, they have a wonderful breakfast consisting of their home-made oatmeal, Eggs Florintine, fruit, breads, teas & coffee.

A definite “must experience” place to stay.  We had so much fun that the rain on the way home didn’t even bother us; well ... not too much anyway (thank God for our leathers!).  If not a weekend, try to make a day of it; you'll be happy you did.
